How do participatory speech practices about sexist language become a feminist method of unlearning and redefinition?

Intro

– Introducing my project briefly (consciousness-raising group)
– Stating what do I want to uncover in this essay
– Outline chapters briefly

Chapter 1

This chapter introduces language as a social construct that reflects and reinforces patriarchal power.
– there are multiple ways in which women are oppressed by and through language, but that would take too long to discover so I will focus on the act of naming and through that the validating of experiences

Chapter 2

This chapter will speak about the concept (and history) of consciousness raising groups in the 70s
– then it will uncover how that method is still valuable in our time
– and how collective dialogue can lead to new interpretations of words and how the feeling of togetherness builds consciousness, political will and power.

Chapter 3

This chapter will combine the theory with my lived experiences through the meetings
– What was my experience in these meetings? What other peoples? (get feedback from them)
– How did that reflect or not reflect the theory?

Conclusion

Glossary

The glossary will contain words that, I find, need more explanation
