The thesis explores the concept of a literary and artistic magic system derived from ritual magic practices through visual art-making. The text will begin with an introduction into the idea of magic within various contexts; Philosophical, historical, social and cultural. It will then make a link between magic and art as potentially connecting practices.
The text will contain analyses of various ritual magic practices and esoteric belief systems. Particularly, examples which contain a significant focus on art, creative expression or visual symbolism as part of their practices. 
From there, the thesis will enter in a more back-and-forth structure with my graduation project in my aim to develop a functional (gamified?) magic system able to be applied through ritualized art making sessions within a group or as an individual practitioner.

Introduction

If magic isn't real, how does one explain art? This thesis looks at the transformative attributes of human creation and art through the lens of ritualized magic practices.

Chapter #1

At the most basic, Magic is the conceptualization of transformative power — The ability to alter reality, bend the material and metaphysical realm through unseen forces. To know, understand and do magic is to apply arcane knowledge about the hidden laws of nature.

If the essence of Magic lays in its endless subjectivity, Magic exists where connections are formed

I believe Magic to be the realm where opposites collide (+Dialectic) into a bridge of new meaning. The outer and inner realities merge. Fact and fabulation become one. For an instance, reality may be suspended to let all truths and falsehoods of perception be equalized. However fleeting.
