Radio Worm Broadcast 6 10th OCT 2025

A spontaneous get-together of classmates. We were too caught up with all the work being done for the Special Issue so we had to come up late with a solution for this broadcast. We were obviously to exhausted to formulate heavy topics and discussion, so we proposed to do a easy morning session. We wanted to have fun and so we did. The starting point for gathering music is to look for ambient and 'Plunderphonics' tunes. Luca and Daan had a conversation about the beauty of 'Plunderphonics'. 'Plunderphonics' is a term coined by John Oswald, in the essay Plunderphonics, or Audio Piracy as a Compositional Prerogative. A long line of plundered music resulted in the 2001 release plunderphonics 69/96 by Plunderphonics (John Oswald) which compiles 60 tracks of sampled popmusic layered with news speeches and whatnot. John Oswald was directly inspired by William S. Burroughs 'cut-up technique for his 'Plunderphonics' approach.

During the show we played a lot of music and samples. Valentin found out a way to connect his songs collected in Tractor to also play on the Pioneer DJ-set, of which Daan thought it only supported files exported in Record box.

Daan did some very basic moderation, explaining what we are doing and promoting the upcoming event at Worm Ubik.

The machine is built to highlight how "simple" it can be nowadays to start to play deathcore without the need to actually learn how to play an acoustic instrument, and how easy it can be to compose a deathcore song on the spot.
