Lexie showed us how to use Audacity as a file type converter basically. It is so interesting to listen to the files imo.

Didn't work really well in my case but this python script worked very well:<syntaxhighlight lang="python3">

    with open('1.jpg', "rb") as f:
        b = bytearray(f.read())

for x in range(20): #range = number of bytes shuffled
        b[random.randint(0,len(b)-1)] = random.randint(0,255)

    with open(f'filename2{y+1}.jpg', "wb") as f:
        f.write(bytes(b))

</syntaxhighlight>

I opened up the push button dial of the t65, utter and complete confusion. I need to just stay with it for a second to understand what pin does what. Also seems to be a lot of different parts connected together? I could have just did the Sassie thing and adjusted the Hertz settings to match the buttons instead of the rotary dial.

Charlie: not very formal, storytelling for mode of access, not fond of academic writing, no suspense allowed on academic writing

topic wise: debating between, esoteric, occult related, illustrations, critical analysis of superstition exoteric beliefs, functions in society, magical thinking, conspiracy theory OR interested in art is magic, magic systems, certain structures, ritualised practices, TWO CAN MERGE.

magic system: actively suspend your disbelief, magic is a trickery that you create through paradoxes, two premises have to exist at the same time. logic is trying to find a solution, suspending disbelief that you have into the idea of superstition/ conspiracy theories.

Sevgi:

myth of income for the artists, give a part of yourself to create a space and ''vibe,'' transference of creativity, skill sharing

workshops make the artist lose the essence of actually creating, optimisation of creative processes and forceful legalisations, like declaring copyright/copyleft/copyright/copyleft

zuhui+Tessa: three different topics, they all sound really ambitious and putting interpretation back into bureacratic belonging

thought experiment like treating matters as organic things

organic matter, degrade,

belonging -> abstract idea based 2 chapter universe -> chapter 3 is super grounded zuhui likes it ---> maybe you can make it smaller later

ground some more "belonging"s, it is a word of feeling but what is it applied to. when it explained it makes sense.

you don't have to ever explain anything, you can jus have a speculation though experiment of all topics.

copy: interpretive belonging experiments with da law

how can we bend the protocols of belonging bureaucratically to our(artists) time, practice, land, creation.

but then how can we create systems that require maintainers with services available when they are available; i.e. libraries, ?

“techno-optimism and technological refusal (ironically, a strong binary)”

trust? It is interesting to me how nowadays trust is the main currency,

Why do we expect things to work perfectly?

Do we need to save the world with every project?

vast subjects tie into together

https://www.felixgonzalez-torresfoundation.org/works/untitled-blue-mirror2

they gave the instructions for printing-> just a jpg with color->paper thickness up to the curators->people can take it home with them-> bending this idea of an 'artwork' -> freestyling with the authorship of art -> 'you can only take one piece of paper' -> 'too accessible'

curious to see: what device will you pick up? could a cataloguing system be implemented in this device you want to fix?

archival-> cleaning up -> death -> archival care

idea of having this device being like a baby-> taking care of a baby!! -> schedule of thinking about something all the time

'care in itself can be so tiring'

potential being could be the schedule of care being of habit you 'oh my god I have to take care of this now'

something physical can put you in a state of care-psychosis. that can work for you, then you can't ry to make the object come to life again.

cryptic catalogue that can only serve the carer.

Claudio:

device care-also went through it last year. this element of physically relating to sth, makes you more relational as a person

whats interesting to my thesis: what do you use and what do you need?

he thinks this is interesting- >"- making inventories of tools of maintenance, etc. like a general guide or a glossary like Rosa?"

'copy life copy death is amazing'

how do you see the process?

how do you plan to the exploration?

what im doing with xml-> no way you can't understand what is in front of you

questions of curation and care? investing time and emotion

how to continue it? cataloguing pads project, how do we maintain it.

problems with defining,

what would help both-> define it more clearly

this is 3 different theses maybe even 9

narrow your scope (what financial systems whats the value whats the worth, at the end is more clear)

in one sentence tell me

This is the itch Lidia found-> I leaned on the fact that there is a silence in translation that fails to be voiced with words and wanted to create a method through maintenance.

choose one area of focus

hierarchies!!

make it applicable to something

what are the secondary issues that arise from there

just choose one and stick to it

what is it that what I'm trying to say or do, commit to something right now

look into existing projects schools of thoughts also into alternative economies/games/systems

I am interested in the value that is created between a person and things that belong to them and how is this value goes undocumented and uncatalogued in a monetary way. How can we transport this values into the future(archiving them)?

pain chart- could this then be tied to slow making practices of like rest is resistance etc. Johanna Hedva : How to Tell When We Will Die: On Pain, Disability, and Doom

I feel like there is a disconnection for you mainly, where data connects to knitting, I think this could be more inspected by looking into how to hack the knitting machine: what are the possiblities of it, what are the affordances of it, whats the age of it, how long of a knitting could it make in 1 hour, in 2 , 3, etc.

assessment -> define your audience better, tentative strategy to engage your audience, you dont have to know it 'im gonna invite this and this' maybe not that but at least something.

strong-> poetic with the critique, giving a strong ctiwiue of consumer capitalist, phrasing motivation->legal frameworks how you consider yourself within the system. occult w tech-> Frankenstein point of departure makes it more speculative and gives more freedom

how do you activate your objesxtc, do you have a series of objects resurrected?, it can be performative gesture, it can be a workshop, it can be anything, but you need to have some clue, something you enjoy. what would you like to do? joy will come back

poetic experiments, source of joy,

looking at waste from apholisphycal and systemic way, you can't avoid waste, how is wasting and discarding happen in tech societies

the point of me anthropomorhphises -> this does creates an e-waste that has effect, so the loneliness and despair is the state of the Earth and the objects in question. makes the urgency of the project more tangible.

voicing the warranty -> buy something dont own it repair it and its suddenly not the responsibility of the company that created it. extra legal framework I can work with.

phrase your role and your objects and their embodiment clearer, what will you do? what kind of body will it be, what kind of role will it play?

reformulate the project as an experiment of resrrecting, research several different ways of resurrection. develop methods, do tryouts, define the steps, the outcome can be a series of experiments

for each resurrection a memoriam, eulogy, birth certificate, past intentions and the futures of the dead objects, then I send it back to the world with its new embodiment, obituaries website

this will solve the timetable

borderlands-> following rules from different communities,

name everything! birth certificate has to have name

what kind of the resurrections are happening, discard studies, borderlands

add images to relation to prev practice

== Flask Day ==
flask is the glue that puts the pieces together. uses jinja.

its a  -> web application framework

php and js can also do some of these things

more fragile then js and php > doesn't work if the server is not maintained regularly

because flask is connected to the server it also makes the server vulnerable. if there is a security breach it can lead to sensitive information becoming public.

Lexie showed us how to use Audacity as a file type converter basically. It is so interesting to listen to the files imo.

Didn't work really well in my case but this python script worked very well:

import random

for y in range(60): #range = number of files
    with open('1.jpg', "rb") as f:
        b = bytearray(f.read())

for x in range(20): #range = number of bytes shuffled
        b[random.randint(0,len(b)-1)] = random.randint(0,255)

    with open(f'filename2{y+1}.jpg', "wb") as f:
        f.write(bytes(b))
gif doesn't work...

Next up is the thread wiring.

copyright copyleft copylife copydeath

how do you get out of the formal bureucratic rules and regulations. life and messiness of the real world.

finding sustainable ways for things to be available and not be available

https://pirate.care/pages/concept/

acts of criminalising solidarity

targets tradition of state->market->family

care gets politicised->women should stay home and take care of family.

Destroy formulations of care.

deconstruction of saying care should be thought differently.

https://hackersanddesigners.nl/connecting-through-seams-workshop.html

whats missing from the copyleft, what is a market friendly way of saying things are Creative Commons and that solves everything.

digital death,

inheritance - declares something death, something is being passed on and forward, digitally and otherwise.

care-> what you are doing and who is it for.

where Marloes is coming from in her research, environmental cost of technology, being more conscious of all the different - > using computing, aware of the costs of things.

to say the bootleg library could be just a computer. we could save the energy of it if it was completely physical.

> > > low tech mag < < <

what are the choices and the reasons.

keeping up the illusion of everything working. big scam of singularity AI stuff.

im stuck with the prototyping1!!!1!!!!

bootleg lib - making things more part of your lived life. Something that could be very how to rewrite the narrative of inconvenience, what if it wasn't discomfort but a part of a morning routine.

embedding the values into the gesture so that it isn't necessarily stay conceptual.

whats ingesting in pirate care-> not anti digital but isn't there a way to have community based libs instead of the digital ones.

I wanna feel like a librarian.

I wanna connect to historical librarian.

the fact that why dewey decimal system is successful was that it had practical applications. it helped reshelving. real physical work that went into it. even building shelves.

thesis outline draft

Sevgi:

myth of income for the artists, give a part of yourself to create a space and vibe, transference of creativity, skill sharing

workshops make the artist lose the essence of actually creating, optimisation of creative processes and forceful legalisations, like declaring copyright/copyleft/copyright/copyleft

zuhui+Tessa: three different topics, they all sound really ambitious and putting interpretation back into bureacratic belonging

thought experiment like treating matters as organic things

organic matter, degrade,

belonging -> abstract idea based 2 chapter universe -> chapter 3 is super grounded zuhui likes it ---> maybe you can make it smaller later

ground some more "belonging"s, it is a word of feeling but what is it applied to. when it explained it makes sense.

you don't have to ever explain anything, you can jus have a speculation though experiment of all topics.

copy: interpretive belonging experiments with da law

how can we bend the protocols of belonging bureaucratically to our(artists) time, practice, land, creation.

but then how can we create systems that require maintainers with services available when they are available; i.e. libraries, ?

for tina:

protocols for making manuals

I think you should rest prototypes read manuals

I think tool-makers would be nice to talk to

'Restructure your expectations towards'

Claudio: “But its soooo nice to give context”

C3: im interviewing myself right now(referring to what we did last year)

tools and shelves are really interesting

Melvil dewey as an archival tool maker.

for c3:

“techno-optimism and technological refusal (ironically, a strong binary)”

trust? It is interesting to me how nowadays trust is the main currency,

Why do we expect things to work perfectly?

Do we need to save the world with every project?

what if -> maintenance as a part of play

Graphviz great idea

No game making?

methods: how to approach is more important

making of sth -> economical value VS experience is disregarded

he finds it interesting to trust a software/tool/etc.

the elistims on both sides -> how do you start on your own and for yourself? and how do yi form. it for the others?

Huizinga homo ludens - > from lidia

"I'm okay with making individual things but I don't know if I want to put that kinda pressure on myself to connect all the aspects as well"

maker, outsider, uncategorizable( who are they )

for me:

feeling of value instead of laws or rights of it.

now: are the bodies of different forms of genealogy -> different families effect the inheritance

martina:

care->institutional practices->archival pov(cataloguing certifications)-> how does the aspect of humanity is connecting to other things.

vast subjects tie into together

https://www.felixgonzalez-torresfoundation.org/works/untitled-blue-mirror2

they gave the instructions for printing-> just a jpg with color->paper thickness up to the curators->people can take it home with them-> bending this idea of an 'artwork' -> freestyling with the authorship of art -> 'you can only take one piece of paper' -> 'too accessible'

curious to see: what device will you pick up? could a cataloguing system be implemented in this device you want to fix?

archival-> cleaning up -> death -> archival care

idea of having this device being like a baby-> taking care of a baby!!

'copy life copy death is amazing'

how do you see the process?

how do you plan to the exploration?

what im doing with xml-> no way you can't understand what is in front of you

questions of curation and care? investing time and emotion

how to continue it? cataloguing pads project, how do we maintain it.

from Lidia:

problems with defining,

what would help both-> define it more clearly

this is 3 different theses maybe even 9

narrow your scope (what financial systems whats the value whats the worth, at the end is more clear)

in one sentence tell me

I can relate to theory in larger context -> gothic horror, Mary Shelley, Lori Emerson,

Flask Day

flask is the glue that puts the pieces together. uses jinja.

its a -> web application framework

php and js can also do some of these things

more fragile then js and php > doesn't work if the server is not maintained regularly

because flask is connected to the server it also makes the server vulnerable. if there is a security breach it can lead to sensitive information becoming public.
