How to add images to the publication?
You can upload your images anywhere! It does not matter. To include them in the publication, they just need to be online somewhere.
Here are upload options:
- wiki: upload your images there
- chopchop: upload your images in your
public_html - project.xpub.nl page: copy the link of the image if you already uploaded it there
Then to include the image:
- copy the URL
- find your folder on the GIT (see below)
- paste the URL, and wrap it into the markdown syntax:

Upload 2 images to your project page:
- these are pictures representing your final work
- you can add them to:
/content/interviews/YOURFOLDER/project.md
Upload 2/3 images to your interview page:
- these are pictures representing your process
- you can add them to:
/content/interviews/YOURFOLDER/index.md
session #1
Monday 7 April
https://pad.xpub.nl/p/XPUB-publication-2023-2025
What would you like to read about someone else's research?
[name]: <what you would like to read>
What would you like to read about the Special Issues you were involved in?
[special issue]:
What would you like to publish from your own research?
[name]:
What publication format/medium would fit for this?
When producing a publication, how can the work be divided into different roles/groups?
Which role would you like to pick up?
session #2 (optional)
Tuesday 8 April
- exploring publication formats/workflows hands-on
Graph made during this session
- pad: https://pad.xpub.nl/p/publishing-workflows-exploration
- code: https://hub.xpub.nl/chopchop/publishing-workflows-exploration/workflows.dot + https://hub.xpub.nl/chopchop/publishing-workflows-exploration/refresh.sh

To generate a new graph:
$ ssh USERNAME@chopchop $ cd /var/www/html/publishing-workflows-exploration/ $ sh refresh.sh
summary
- notes of the conversation can be found on this pad:
session #3
Monday 14 April
Agenda:
- look at publications that we all brought
- present workflow graph (see above)
- read conversation notes all together (see above)
- check in with groups (if there has been progress already?)
- split into groups
- tasks for next meeting
Summary:
- we looked at quite a lot of different publications/books/magazines/web publications (notes are on the pad) to get a feeling of different (mainly printed) publications, binding types, tone, ... It was very broad still
- we did a couple of temperature checks, to see what the main direction of the publication could be (votes are on the pad)
- we made a Zulip stream (you should be added to it) and @usergroups that can be used to communicate between groups
- we formed publication groups (production groups for the publication), they can be found at the top of the wiki page (this one)! These groups are not static, you can move or join a group at any time. Just add yourself to the list on the wiki page, and ping me (Manetta) to adjust the usergroups on Zulip
- each of the publication groups had an initial 30 min meeting
- during next meeting (in a month) all the groups are asked to come with proposals that need a full group discussion
- in the meantime, we will use Zulip to communicate between groups
session #4
Monday 12 May
Agenda:
- check in with groups
Notes of today's session: can be found at line 235 of the publication pad: https://pad.xpub.nl/p/XPUB-publication-2023-2025
The following decisions were made:
- interviews will be used to add a conversational tone to the publication (next to a graduation project section for everyone)
- the interviews will be done in one long chain (see below)
- the decision for this and format of the chain will be introduced clearly in the publication
- the editorial + design group will prepare an interview instruction message, and send this out this week (16 May latest)
- interviews take place next week (19-25 May)
- the interviews will contain one shared question: "What does floating mean to you? Are you floating?"
- it is still open if the question is to be used as an opening question of the interview, or can appear anywhere in the interview (editorial/design group will decide on this??)
- the website group will try to arrange overlap between the publication materials and website materials as much as possible, and jump in to set up a web-to-print workflow
- the publication will be glue-bound

session #5
Monday 26 May
submit interviews before today
on the agenda for today:
- design group check in
- website/workflow
- budget question
Notes of today's morning: can be found on the pad, from line 637
a summary:
- Anita shared sketches that she and Senka made for the banners and posters of the gradshow:
- Victor and Mania shared sketches for the layout:
- Rosa shared sketches for the website made by Bernadette:
- Rosa presented a proposal for a workflow to make the website and publication on chopchop:
- Two questions remain:
- What role does the chain have in the publication?
- What role does "floating" have in the publication?
- What could the subtitle of the gradshow be? "between this and that" sounds cool, but stays a bit vague.. We decided that the chain words be used here, like: "between language and networks" and use different subtitles
- In response to this, Victor and Riviera made some sketches for this during the session:
- the graphviz work is continued by Riviera + Mania + Anita
- Rosa is setting up the workflow on chopchop
- the editorial group is meeting
session #6
Tuesday 10 June
Agenda
- look at the first full draft of the publication!
- look at printed dummies?
- discuss license(s)

- project.xpub.nl: logo + who makes the index page?
- making of text?
- timeline
- ...
Summary
