I received insights into peoples knowledge about crystal radios and positive feedback about the setup. I picked out a shelf from the fourth floor of the university- I like the idea of a working shelf, showing the prototypes, having a space to read through and try out the radio. It felt like an ideal set up to display a work in progress, or a working lab situation.</small>

  • Playing and manipulating the rotary phone to perform a different function removed this intimidation I felt with exploring hardware. The act of tinkering, taking apart decives and exploring how they work is an interest that remained very much present in the graduation project. I think if I did not have this introduction to basic circuitry, I would not be where I am today with my low-tech radio wave receivers.

  • Key reflection: imagining that altered webpages looked like weaving patterns.
  • Physical quilting and its digital translation.
  • Applying physical mediums like quilting, to the web.
  • Using my previous practice in traditional mediums (textiles) and exploring ways to translate them into the digital. This was the first project where I allowed myself to re-introduce previous making methods into XPUB. This project was a start to the exploration of what I call in my graduation research 'the bending of the material' - finding different materials to print on to enhance the translationg or merging of material worlds.
