			; Framework for post-thesis essay

			We discussed the function of your post-thesis essay, and I made the point that rather than creating a context for your film-making practice (which is still in its foundational stages), that this could be research for the direction of how your film and writing practices might develop in parallel. Looking further ahead, this could also form the basis of PhD research.

			I suggested 'Composition' as a critical term to structure your text e.g. considering 'composition' in terms of writing, in terms of film shots and also, in terms of heritage (with regard to the term used for social classification of people as discussed in your thesis).

			; Bibliography and filmography

			I suggested as a first step you compile a short, focused bibliography around the term 'composition'.

			From a writing POV you could look at writers who use sentences as compositional units e.g. Lydia Davis is great (and you could also look at Gertrude Stein, an influence on Davis). There is also a forthcoming book by Brian Dillon on sentences (or you could just look up his column for Cabinet magazine). I also suggested you speak to Simon about texts relating to shot composition, or perhaps cinematographers who might have written about this.

			I think it would also be good to develop a filmography too, especially for the section of your text on composition in film, which could include some technical analyses.

			So this was the section of your 'Graduation project No. 3' document presenting different research/writing strands. I highlighted which I felt would be most interesting for your post-thesis essay. These were:
